Emile: A seasoned business owner looking to semi retire and take on a mentorship role after being at the helm of dozens of businesses.
Blair: An entrepreneur with a passion for the ideologies of co-working spaces looking to move away from the downtown core into an accessible market.
A true story of collaboration, Collab Space is the brain child of notable community businessman Emile Salem and savvy Entrepreneur Blair Kilrea. Together, they identified the need for a community that would bring together entrepreneurs and small business owners, and offer them the tools they needed for optimal success.
Collab Space officially launched in 2015 at 70 Bongard Ave, in Nepean, Ontario, occupying a small portion of a large industrial warehouse. Originally a small scale space with available offices and access to mentoring, Salem and Kilrea knew they were on to something big when the space was maxed out almost immediately.
In December of 2015, Collab Space took over the warehouse in its entirety, and a new 20,000 square foot facility was born. Complete with offices, boardrooms, an education room for larger groups, and optimized co-working spaces, Collab Space is not merely a place to conduct business, it is a community built to foster business, connect entrepreneurs and mentors, conduct accessible workshops and seminars that encourage growth and diversification, and grow networks.
Currently, Collab Space is undergoing extensive renovations to optimize every inch of the building. 2017 is going to see the expansion of the mezzanine to include several new offices available for rent, expanded event space, a full service licensed restaurant serving breakfast and lunch, a commercial kitchen to accommodate small businesses in the food industry. A new accessible bathroom will be built, as well as showers to accommodate bicycle commuters, day time running class participants, and those attending various other active sessions.
